松代藩文武学校中庭に現れた、鉄の折り鶴の羽根。同じく鉄で出来た、鳥居を思わせる形が寄り添って一体となって存在する。折り鶴に託す平和への願い。祈りのかたちの連作シリーズ。「羽根プロジェクト」
Concept:
The wing of an origami crane, made of steel, displayed in the garden of the Matsushiro feudal clan’s School of Literary and Martial Arts. A shape made of the same steel, reminiscent of a torii (Shinto shrine archway), stands close to it, creating a single presence. We ask the origami crane to bring peace. This work is part of the Shape of Prayer series. “Hane (Wing) Project”

松代藩文武学校文学所の床の間に現れた、松代大本営、象山地下壕の写真。散乱した碗状の中に、かつてあった折り鶴の羽根が放り出されている。周囲に人影は無く地下壕の冷気が迫る。遺跡ではあるが今もなお確たる存在を発し続ける地下壕と、祈りのかたちとのコラボレーションによる連作。碗と羽根による「羽根プロジェクト」2004年より開始した床の間シリーズの連作。
Concept :
A photograph of the Matsushiro Imperial Headquarters Mount Zouzan tunnel complex, hung in the tokonoma (alcove) in the literary studies hall at the Matsushiro feudal clan’s School of Literary and Martial Arts. Among the scattered tea bowl shapes lies the wing of an origami crane, as if forgotten. No sign of anyone and the chilly air inside the tunnels presses down on one. This is a collaboration between the tunnels, which continue to give rise to definite presence despite being ruins, and the shape of a pray. This is part of a series of tokonoma works begun in 2004, the “Hane (Wing) Project”, using tea bowls and wings.

1948年 福岡生まれ。1973年東京芸術大学大学院修了1986年より文部省在外研究にてアメリカ在住。1975年銀座ギン画廊での個展を始め国内外で発表を行う。1999年より折り鶴の羽根をモチーフにした「羽根プロジェクト」を開始する。2002年日韓共催ワールドカップを機に、松代大本営をテーマにした現代美術の祭典、まつしろ現代美術フェスティバルを始め現在に至る。

メッセージ：現代美術の中に萌芽する社会性を素直な感覚で育ててゆきたい 。
